  • He also collected silver medals in the 1958 Commonwealth Games and the 1962 Commonwealth Games His son, Christian Porter, is a politician, who is the Liberal Party member for the federal electorate of Pearce and Minister for Social Services in the Turnbull Government.
  • His father, Charles Porter, was a Queensland Liberal state MP between 1966 and 1980 and served in the ministry of Joh Bjelke-Petersen.
