- While he is under contract to the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL), he has not played since early in the 2015-16 season due to post-concussion syndrome.
- He is a Stanley Cup champion with the Red Wings in 2008.
- Franzén was originally drafted by the Red Wings in the third round, 97th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
