About Yrjö Jahnsson

  • Yrjö Jahnsson (1877–1936) was a Finnish economics professor at the University of Helsinki (appointed 1911).
  • In the early 1930s he was openly critical of the strict monetary policy of the "orthodox" government and central bank.
  • Ideologically he was a supporter of the Fennoman movement.
  • During the 1920s and 1930s he was successful in business and made a substantial amount of money, which was used by his wife (Hilma Jahnsson (1882–1975)) to establish the Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation.
