About Fedor Frešo

  • Fedor Frešo (6 January 1947 – 26 June 2018) was a Slovak rock and jazz bassist. He was the son of composer and the conductor of Slovak National Theatre Tibor Frešo.
  • His mother was the director and editor at the Czechoslovakian radio in Bratislava. He studied double bass and bass guitar at the conservatory of music. He played in several important Slovak groups.
  • These included Soulmen with Dežo Ursiny, Prúdy with Pavol Hammel and Marián Varga, Collegium Musicum with Marián Varga, Fermata with Fero Griglák, T+R Band with Peter Lipa, Traditional Club with Ján Lehotský and the Czechoslovak group Blue Effect with Radim Hladík. After finishing his studies, Frešo became a producer and musical director.
  • Up to 1989 he worked for Slovenský rozhlas. In 2011 he published his book Sideman“, where he recounted his career from his beginnings with Soulmen to his latest concert with Marián Varga as a member of Collegium Musicum.
