Michael James Grier (born January 5, 1975) is an American retired professional ice hockey winger who played for four teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) - the Edmonton Oilers, Washington Capitals, San Jose Sharks, and Buffalo Sabres.
Primarily a checking forward, he played 1,060 NHL games over 14 NHL seasons.
Grier was the first African-American player in the history of the NHL to be exclusively trained in the country.
He currently works as the assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils.
He also coached at Saint Sebastian's School, where he played his high school hockey.
