  • Mark Peter Gertruda Andreas van Bommel (Dutch pronunciation: ['m?r(?)k f?m 'b?m?l]; born 22 April 1977) is a Dutch football coach and former player who played as a midfielder. He played in four different nations (The Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Italy), during his stay in Germany for Bayern Munich, he made club history, becoming the first team captain not from Germany. Van Bommel won the 2005–06 UEFA Champions League with Barcelona and was part of the Netherlands team that finished runner-up of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
