Ada Prins (18 September, 1879, Amsterdam – 20 July 1977, Voorburg) became in 1908 the first woman in the Netherlands to hold a doctorate in chemistry.Having obtained her doctorate at the University of Amsterdam with the thesis Vloeiende mengkristallen in binaire stelsels, she developed her reputation by writing chemistry text books.She had a romantic relationship with the poet, Herman Gorter from 1901.
