About Emmanuel Noi Omaboe

  • Emmanuel Noi Omaboe, Nana Wereko Ampem II, (29 October 1930 – 26 November 2005) was a traditional ruler, public servant and economic consultant from Ghana.
  • In public service, Omaboe was Statistician to the first Ghanaian republican government under Nkrumah.
  • After the 1966 overthrow of the Nkrumah regime in Ghana, he assumed responsibility for decisions of economic planning and coordination of the National Liberation Council and was appointed Commissioner for Economic Affairs from 1966 to 1969.
  • He was Omanhene of Amanokrom in Akuapem from 1975 to 2005.
  • He served on the United Nations Investment Committee and was made a member emeritus.
  • He was Chancellor of the University of Ghana from 1999 to 2005.
