  • Ilya Nikolayevich Berezin (Russian: ????´ ??????´???? ????´???, 20 July 1818, Perm Governorate, Imperial Russia,— 3 April 1896, Saint Petersburg, Imperial Russia) was a prominent Russian Orientalist, the major authority on the culture, languages and history of Turkey, Iran and Mongolia, the Meritorious Professor of Saint Petersburg University, who wrote both in Russian and French. Among his acclaimed works written in Russian were The Library of Oriental Historians (?????????? ????????? ?????????, 1850—1851, 2 volumes), Travelling the East (??????????? ?? ???????, 1849—1852, 2 volumes).
