  • He is an active member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and investigator at Los Molinos Observatory.His list of possible dwarf planets, along with that of Michael E.
  • Brown, is commonly considered, along with the five dwarf planets recognized by the IAU – Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris – to be the dwarf planets of the Solar System.
  • The Themistian asteroid 5088 Tancredi has been named after him.
