Djarot Saiful Hidayat (born 6 July 1962) is an Indonesian politician who is currently a member of the People's Representative Council.
He was the governor of Jakarta, in office between 15 June and 15 October 2017 after being acting governor since 9 May.
He replaced his predecessor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (commonly known as Ahok) when the latter was found guilty of blasphemy against Islam.
He was appointed by Basuki as Lieutenant Governor in 2014 to fill the gap left by the election of Joko Widodo as president.Member of PDI-P, his political career began as a member of East Java's Regional Parliament between 1999 and 2000, before he was elected as Mayor of Blitar where he served a 10-year tenure.
He was later elected into the People's Representative Council before his move into the capital's governance.
