- Anita Florence Hemmings (June 8, 1872 – 1960) was the first "mixed-race" woman to graduate from Vassar College, the daughter of Robert Williamson Hemmings and Dara Logan.
- In American culture, "mixed-race" individuals are often popularly omitted of their "White" ancestry, and solely considered "Black" or "African," leaving Hemmings to still be claimed by Vassar as the first African-American graduate of her all-female class.
