  • Maurice McCarthy (1881 - 1962) was an Irish sportsperson.
  • A native of Castleisland, Maurice McCarthy took up employment in Tralee with a business firm.
  • With He played Gaelic football with the Tralee Mitchels and was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 1902 until 1915.
  • Having won three All-Ireland medals by 1910, Maurice McCarthy decided to hang up his football boots for good.
  • But in 1913 came the Croke Memorial Final with Louth which agitated Kerry to its depths, Maurice was recalled from retirement.
