- She has been ranked in the top 10 of the world in her weight category.Born in Romania, Ecaterina arrived in Canada the next year, when her parents decided to immigrate.
- Catalin Guica, three times national champion in judo in Romania and the father of two daughters, Ecaterina and Georgiana, came to Canada with the thought to become coach of judo.
