Peter Burge (born 3 July 1974, in Townsville) is a former Australian long and triple jumper.
He is most famous for winning the long jump competition at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
He retired from athletics in 2003.
After his home town Olympics (Sydney 2000), the humble Burge turned down a police escort with Ian Thorpe for a lift home and instead waited for a taxi with his adoring fans.
Upon Burge entering the Taxi the crowd gave him the official long jumpers clap, a true highlight in Burge’s career.
His competitive drive once saw him consume a super box of 20 rainbow paddle pops in one sitting.
