- He is a three-time former world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBO bantamweight title from 2005 to 2007, and the WBC featherweight title twice between 2011 and 2015.
- Additionally, he held the IBO featherweight title from 2010 to 2011. The name "Jhonny" originated as a misspelling of "Johnny" on his birth registration form.
