Terry Maple (born September 10, 1946) is an American behavioral research scientist, wildlife conservationist, Professor Emeritus (Georgia Institute of Technology) and zoo director emeritus.
Maple has authored or co-authored 12 academic books, including Zoo Man, an autobiography detailing the early years of his career as a zoo director.
His second autobiography, Professor in the Zoo, was published in August 2016.
Most recently, he co-authored with Dan Marston, Comparative Psychology for Clinical Psychologists and Therapists (Kingsley, London, 2016).
He has been largely collected by libraries worldwide.Maple is best known for his 18-year tenure as director and later President and CEO of Zoo Atlanta where he transformed the troubled zoo into a model institution and a fiscally sound cultural attraction.
