Abdelkader Bensalah (Arabic: ??? ??????? ?? ?????, born 24 November 1941) is an Algerian politician who served as the Acting head of state of Algeria from April 2019 to December 2019 for 8 months after the new President was elected in the 2019 Algerian presidential election.
As the President of the Council of the Nation since 2002, he later became the Acting head of state following the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in April 2019 who has ruled the country since 1999 for 20 years.
He was set to run Algeria for a period of 90 days during which a new presidential election should have to be held.
However, he ran the nation longer than the period of 90 days since the election was cancelled and delayed to December 2019.
