Alexander Grossmann (5 August 1930 – 12 February 2019) is a French-American physicist of Croatian origin at the Université de la Méditerranée Aix-Marseille II in Luminy campus who did pioneering work on wavelet analysis with Jean Morlet in 1984.
In effet, Grossmann and Morlet rediscovered Alberto Calderón's identity (1960) 20 years later, providing a proof using the tools of quantum mechanics.
This in effect showed this identity's applicability to signal analysis. He died on 12 February 2019.
