  • Hooker (February 6, 1838 – August 6, 1902) was an American Civil War veteran who received the Medal of Honor.
  • In 1862 Hooker captured 116 Confederate soldiers along with their colonel and company colors by himself.
  • For this action he was awarded the Medal of Honor.
  • Hooker was elected in 1879 and 1880 as department commander of the Grand Army of the Republic in Vermont.
  • He was also elected as Brattleboro's representative in the Vermont General Assembly, to which he was re-elected in 1882.
