- Deltell was the final leader of the Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) from 2009 to the merger of the party with the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) in 2012.
- He was the member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Chauveau.
- He was the house leader of the CAQ in the National Assembly until the provincial election in April 2014 and has served as a federal MP for Louis-Saint-Laurent since October 2015.
