About Henri Darondeau

  • Henri Darondeau, full name Henry BenoĂ®t François d'Arondeau, (28 February 1779, Strasbourg – 30 July 1865, Paris aged 86) was a 19th-century French composer.
  • When he was an organist in Bourges, he taught lessons in solfège, piano, harmony and counterpoint to the young FrĂ©dĂ©ric Barbier. He was the father of BenoĂ®t Darondeau, hydrographer, and Stanislas Darondeau, a painter. He wrote some 100 works among which: 1805: Rosina et Lorenzo, ballet by Jean-Pierre Aumer, music Henri Darondeau, Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin, 6 March 1809: Le retour de la sentinelle, lyrics by Louis Brault 1810: FrĂ©dĂ©ric duc de Nevers, text by Mardelle, E.
