About Wolfgang Mager

  • Wolfgang Mager (born 24 August 1952) is a German rower who competed for East Germany in the 1972 Summer Olympics and in the 1976 Summer Olympics. He was born in Kamenz.
  • In 1972, he and his partner, Siegfried Brietzke, won the gold medal in the coxless pair event.
  • Four years later, he won his second gold medal as crew member of the East German boat in the coxless fours competition.
  • At the 1980 Olympics, the East German boat won the gold medal again but Mager suffered a hand injury before the Games and was replaced by Jürgen Thiele.
