About Louise Rickard

  • Louise Rickard (born 31 December 1970) is a Welsh rugby union player.
  • She has played at Lock, Wing and Centre positions.
  • She is one of the most capped players in the history of women's rugby at 112 caps for Wales. Rickard made her debut in 1993 against England.
  • She was nominated for the BBC Wales Sports Personality for the year 2009.
  • In 2016 Louise played a key role in securing the first Masters Touch Tournament in Gif, Paris.
  • She was educated at St Joseph's College, Ipswich.
  • In 1992 she graduated from Aberystwyth University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and with a PhD in Marine Biology in 1996.
  • She is presently the Head of Biology at Woodbridge School in Suffolk. She has also made squads at a national level in other sports such as hockey, karate and bobsleigh.
  • She was honored as a Honorary Fellow of Aberystwyth University.
