Nakanishi Natsuyuki (July 14, 1935; Tokyo, Japan–October 23, 2016) was a Japanese Modern and Contemporary painter.
He obtained BFA in oil painting in 1958 from the Tokyo University of the Arts.
Following his graduation, he adopted the Neo-Dadaist theories, and began the series of paintings called Rhyme.
In 1963 he founded Hi Red Center in which Jiro Takamatsu and Genpei Akasegawa were also members.
In 1965 he began collaborating with the Butoh dancers Tatsumi Hijikata and Kauo Ono, which would be very influential on his thinking and his practice.
In 2013, he installed Touching Down on Land and Touching Down on Water XIV: Itsuura Coast, which paid tribute to Rokkakudo, which was destroyed during the 2011 Japanese Earthquake.His art is on display at the Museum of Modern Art and at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
