Olivier Faure is a French politician serving as head of the New Left group (French: Groupe Nouvelle Gauche), the parliamentary group formed around the Socialist Party (PS) in the National Assembly, since December 2016.
He is also the First Secretary of the French Socialist Party.
In the election to lead the socialist group, Faure won by 137 to 120 against Guillaume Bachelay and succeeded Bruno Le Roux, who was appointed to the Ministry of the Interior.
