He was also treasurer of the Ligue de Football Professionnel from 2003 to 2005, and part of the organising group for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in the country.
On 2 May 2005 he was named president of Paris Saint-Germain F.C.
by owners Canal+, in place of Francis Graille.
He lasted just under a year in the job, as the sale of the club to Colony Capital led to his replacement by Alain Cayzac.
