  • He was a freestyle wrestler and Olympic medalist. Jacob Gundersen was born in Fjære (later incorporated into Grimstad), in Aust-Agder county, Norway.
  • He received a silver medal in the heavyweight class at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London.
