- Subramaniam as he is known to his supporters, is a Malaysian politician of Indian origin who was deputy president of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), a major component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN), from 1979 to 2006.
- He was also Member of Parliament for Segamat and served as Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.
