About Bill Nolan (animator)

  • William "Bill" Nolan (June 10, 1894 – December 6, 1954) was an American animated cartoon writer, animator, director, and artist.
  • He is best known for creating and perfecting the rubber hose style of animation and for streamlining Felix the Cat.
  • From 1925 to 1927, he worked on a loose animated adaptation of George Herriman's Krazy Kat for Margaret J.
  • Winkler and from 1929 to 1934, worked as an animator, storyman, and director at the Walter Lantz Studio on the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series.
  • Nolan also worked at MGM on The Captain and the Kids series based on the comic strip The Katzenjammer Kids.
