Barbara Serra (born 19 August 1974) is an Italian-born British-based broadcast journalist and TV newsreader.
Serra studied at the London School of Economics, before becoming a journalist.
She began her career with the BBC, where she worked as a researcher for Radio 4's Today programme.
She moved to Sky News in 2003 as a reporter, working on both domestic and international stories.
She also worked as a news presenter for Five News.
When doing so, she became the first newsreader in British history to read the news in her second language on terrestrial television.
Serra notably moved to Al Jazeera English as part of its 2006 launch team.
Since then she has held numerous roles within the news network.
From 2007 onwards, she also worked as a presenter and commentator with the Italian TV network, RAI.
As an Italian national, she has been recognised as one of the 20 most high profile Italian women internationally by Elle magazine.
She has written one book which was titled, 'Gli Italiani Non Sono Pigri' (Those Lazy Europeans).
Serra is also a writer for the Huffington Post.
As a presenter, she currently works for Al Jazeera English and RAI.
