Ralph Evans (born 20 December 1953) in the Rhondda Valley, South Wales to parents Gwynfor and Jean Evans.
Ralph is the eldest of six children.
At the age of seven years the family moved to Waterlooville, Hampshire, where later his father set up and ran the Waterlooville boxing club (still in existence today).
Evans won a bronze medal in the light flyweight division (– 48 kg) at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany.
In the semifinals he was defeated by Hungary's eventual gold medalist György Gedó.
