  • Michael John Gapes (born 4 September 1952) is a British Independent Group for Change politician who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Ilford South from the 1992 general election until the 2019 general election. Gapes was a Labour and Co-operative MP until February 2019, when he left in protest at Jeremy Corbyn's leadership to form The Independent Group along with six other Labour MPs.
