Gombojav Zandanshatar or Zandanshatar Gombojav (Mongolian: ?????????? ???????????) is a Mongolian politician.
He has been a chairman of the State Great Khural, the parliament of Mongolia, since his election on 1 February 2019.
He previously served as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Trade.He graduated from the Russian State Institute of Finance and was a lecturer in economics and finance at the Mongolian Institute of Commerce and Industry.
He then worked at the Agricultural Bank, the Khan Bank, and the Central Bank of Mongolia, and served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, before being elected to the State Great Khural in 2004.
He was Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2009 to 2012.
He is a member of the Mongolian People's Party, and has served as its General Secretary.In 2014–2015 and 2016, Zandanshatar was a visiting scholar at the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law at Stanford University in California.
He was impressed by the concept of deliberative polling developed by the center's director, James Fishkin, and translated his book on it, When the People Speak, into Mongolian.
In 2017 the country officially adopted deliberative polling as a condition for constitutional changes.After his predecessor, Miyeegombyn Enkhbold, was ousted after numerous orchestrated demonstrations made by his political opponents, Gombojavyn Zandanshatar was proposed and later elected as chairman.
