Akane Yamaguchi (?? ?, Yamaguchi Akane, born 6 June 1997) is a Japanese badminton player from the Kumamoto Saishunkan team, who is a singles specialist.
She was the first Japanese player to hold the number 1 position in the BWF women's singles ranking, on 19 April 2018.Yamaguchi won the national junior championship as a primary school student in 2010.
She also won the 2014 and 2017 national championships, and the international tournament such as the 2017 BWF Super Series Finals.
Yamaguchi helped Japan women's team lifted the 2018 Uber Cup and won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
