About Hamdija Lipovača

  • Hamdija Lipovaca (born 20 December 1976) is a Bosnian politician.
  • He served as the Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton from 1 February 2011 until his forced resignation three years later, following the violent protests and riots in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Lipovaca was also the canton's Minister of Police.
  • He previously served as the mayor of Bihac for six years beginning in 2004. Just as most politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he has been accused by civilians of corruption and was forced to resign during the protests in February 2014.
  • Lipovaca was arrested 17 December 2014 on charges of "abuse of office and forgery of documents." On 24 March 2015, Lipovaca was sentenced to two months in prison, and served time until 8 April 2015 when he was released by authorities.
  • No reason was given for the early release.
