Kris "Tanto" Paronto is an American author and speaker, as well as a former U.S.
Army Ranger and CIA security contractor.
Paronto is known for his heroic actions while part of the CIA annex security team during the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S.
Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stephens and the CIA compound in Benghazi.
He is featured in the book 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi and is credited as a co-author.
Paronto was portrayed by Pablo Schreiber in the film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.
He is author of the 2017 self-improvement novel The Ranger Way: Living the Code On and Off the Battlefield and 'The Patriot's Creed: Inspiration and Advice for Living a Heroic Life'.
In both The Ranger Way and The Patriot's Creed, Kris Paronto not only offers up advice on leadership and words of encouragement, but he is quick to let the readers know that he is far from perfect and has made many mistakes in his life.
He strives to learn and grow from those mistakes.
He credits his grandparents and his parents for raising and teaching him about God/his faith, the meaning of loyalty and patriotism, and his work ethic.
He credits the Army and mostly the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment for instilling in him the meaning of the Army Values, and tries to live his life in line with the Ranger Creed.
Other than his faith in God, he says that his Wife and children bring him his strength.
No matter what mistakes he has made in his life, his family was always there and had his back.
Other than his unofficial catch phrase "Never Quit", Kris is always telling those he works with that "Family Comes First!".
