  • Grégoire Orlyk was born in Ukraine, the son of Ukrainian hetman in exile Pylyp Orlyk and Hanna Hertsyk, received good education in Sweden, served in Poland and Saxony, participated in secret efforts of France to restore on the Polish throne Stanislaw Leszczynski.
