- Alvin Davis Garten (June 20, 1905 – July 3, 1981) was the third and fifth head football coach for Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico and he held that position for fourteen seasons, from 1936 until 1937 and then returning from 1939 until 1953.
