Lawrence Gerard Nassar (born August 16, 1963) is a convicted American serial child molester, who was a former USA Gymnastics national team doctor and osteopathic physician at Michigan State University.
Nassar's cumulative sexual assault crimes were the basis of the USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal, in which he was accused, beginning in 2015, of assaulting at least 250 young women and girls and one young man, dating back to 1992.
His victims included numerous Olympic and United States women's national gymnastics team gymnasts, and he has admitted to 10 of those accusations.
In July 2017, Nassar was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
On January 24, 2018, Nassar was sentenced to 175 years in a Michigan state prison after pleading guilty to seven counts of sexual assault of minors.
On February 5, 2018, he was sentenced to an additional 40 to 125 years in prison after pleading guilty to an additional three counts of sexual assault.
His state prison sentences are to run consecutively with his federal sentence.
