About Andrew McKissock

  • Andrew Nelson McKissock (6 December 1873 – 17 July 1919) was an Australian politician.
  • Born in Ballaarat, Victoria, he received a primary education before becoming an apprentice printer.
  • He was an official with the Typographical Association before becoming President of the Ballaarat Trades and Labour Council.
  • He also served as President of the Victoria-Riverina Australian Workers' Union.
  • In 1908, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the Labor member for Ballaarat West.
  • He remained in the Assembly until 1911.
  • In 1914, he was elected to the Australian Senate as a Labor Senator for Victoria.
  • He held the seat until his defeat in 1917, after which he became a Labor Party organiser.
  • McKissock died in 1919, a victim of the 1918 flu pandemic.
