Anna Marie Caballero (born April 18, 1955) is an American politician serving in the California State Senate.
A Democrat, she represents the 12th State Senate district, encompassing the Salinas Valley and part of the Central Valley.
She previously served in the California State Assembly representing the 30th Assembly District, encompassing the Pajaro and Salinas Valleys in the Central Coast, from 2016 to 2018 and the 28th Assembly District from 2006 to 2010.Caballero unsuccessfully ran for the California State Senate in 2010, losing to Republican Anthony Cannella.
After Cannella was ineligible for re-election to the State Senate after serving two terms, Caballero was finally elected to the State Senate in 2018, defeating Republican Rob Poythress. Prior to serving in the State Legislature, Caballero served as Mayor and a Councilmember of Salinas, California.
Between her two stints in the State Assembly, she served as Secretary of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency under Governor Jerry Brown.
