Arati Prabhakar (born February 2, 1959) is an American engineer and the former head of DARPA, the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, a position she held from July 30, 2012 to January 20, 2017. She headed National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from 1993 to 1997, and was the first woman to head NIST.
