René-Jean-Marie-Joseph Guénon (French: [??ne ?an ma?i ?oz?f gen?~]; 15 November 1886 – 7 January 1951), also known as ?Abd al-Wa?id Ya?yá (Arabic: ??? ?????? ?????) after his conversion to Islam, was a French author and intellectual who remains an influential figure in the domain of metaphysics, having written on topics ranging from sacred science and traditional studies, to symbolism and initiation. He wrote and published in French, and his works have been translated into more than twenty languages.
He is considered to be an important writer in the Traditionalist School of philosophy, and one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century.
