  • Charles Albert Whittier (August 6, 1840 – May 14, 1908) was a Union Army lieutenant colonel and staff officer during the American Civil War.
  • In 1866, he was nominated and confirmed for appointment to the grade of brevet brigadier general of volunteers to rank from August 9, 1865, the date he met the flag of truce party of the Army of Northern Virginia as that army arrived to surrender to the Union Army at Appomattox Court House, Virginia.
  • He served as a United States Army brigadier general during the Spanish–American War.
