Chris Wilson (born September 10, 1952 in Waltham, Massachusetts) is a guitarist, multi instrumentalist singer/songwriter most known for his role as the singer of the best-remembered line-up San Francisco band the Flamin' Groovies, having replaced original singer Roy Loney in 1971.
With Wilson on lead vocals, the band released their influential 1976 albums Shake Some Action Flamin Groovies Now, Jumpin'In The Night and The Gold Star Tapes, where the Groovies recorded their thunderous rendition of Ike and Tina Turner's Phil Spector produced song River Deep, Mountain High.
Chris returned to the U.S.
to rejoin the Groovies in 2013 and the band toured extensively in Europe, America, Japan and Australia from 2013-2017.
In 2014, Chris moved back to the U.S.
to Gresham, Oregon, where he now resides.
The Flamin Groovies played their last show with Chris in Mexico City in May 2018.
Chris went into rehab in Washington state in December 2018, and has taken a hiatus from performing to study at Mount Hood Community College in Gresham.
He is engaged to Lori Christian, and they have plans to marry soon and move to the Oregon coast, and Chris continues to write songs and play in Oregon and the West coast.
His song "Shake Some Action", co-written with Cyril Jordan, appeared in the 1995 movie Clueless.
"Shake Some Action " has been used recently in various TV shows in the States, and has been covered by hundreds of bands.
