- Since the 2010 federal election, he has represented the electorate of Hughes, in New South Wales, for the Liberal Party of Australia, succeeding Danna Vale. Kelly is considered to be part of the informal conservative right-wing faction inside the Liberal party, and is a frequent guest on Sky News and other Sky programs, often speaking on subjects related to the parliamentary environment and energy committee.
