About Dave Douglas (golfer)

  • Dave Douglas (January 1, 1918 – November 16, 1978) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1940s and 1950s. Douglas hailed from Newark, Delaware.
  • Early in his career, he held the position of club pro at the Newark (Delaware) Country Club from 1940 until October 1942.
  • After World War II, he joined the PGA Tour.
  • At 6'2" tall and 165 pounds, he was lean and lanky.
  • He was of Scottish ancestry and known for his smooth swing. Douglas won eight tournaments on the PGA Tour in the late 1940s through the mid-1950s.
  • He was a member of the winning U.S.
  • Ryder Cup Team in 1953. In 1978, Douglas was inducted into the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.
