About Dave Marshall (baseball)

  • David Lewis Marshall (January 14, 1943 – June 6, 2019) was an American professional baseball player, an outfielder who appeared in Major League Baseball for the San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and the San Diego Padres.
  • Born in Artesia, California, Marshall graduated from Lakewood High School and attended College of the Sequoias and Long Beach State University.
  • He threw right handed, batted left handed, and was listed as 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) tall and 182 pounds (83 kg). Marshall's professional career extended from 1963 through 1973.
  • He overcame a torn rotator cuff injury to appear in 490 games played in the majors between 1967 and 1973 for all of five seasons and parts of two others.
  • He played in 110 games for the 1969 Giants and 100 contests for the 1971 Mets, but batted only .232 and .238 respectively.
  • His 258 career hits included 41 doubles, four triples and 16 home runs. Marshall died June 6, 2019.
