He was born on 10 March 1946 in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan in a Kassi Pashtun family.
He obtained a master's degree in Economics.
He worked as a lecturer in a government college.
On November 1, 1974, he became a producer in Pakistan Television Center, Quetta.
He produced and directed serials, plays and documentaries. He achieved best producer of PTV Award for documentary.

He served in PTV as a producer and a director.
He was promoted to a Program Manager in 1984 and General Manager in 1989.
